When investing into a lovely, high quality candle you want to get most enjoyment out of it. There are a few simple things you can do to make sure you will. By looking after your candle, you’ll make sure the get the maximum burn time and minimum wax wastage.
As soy wax candles have a low melting point it would be good to store your candle in a cool and dry place. If you leave the candle out in the sunshine the candle will start melting from the surface. Even though this is not harmful to the candle it’s still worth keeping that in mind. It is always good to keep the lid on as this will keep the dust out and the scent in, keeping it potent. This is especially important with natural essential oils as they tend to evaporate faster than synthetic perfumes.
When burning the candle it is better to burn longer time less often than shorter time often. This gives candle enough time to create an even melting pool burning the candle evenly and you won’t get residue on the sides of the candle. Burn long enough so the surface has completely and evenly melted, but not so long that the wax melts completely to the base of the candle. This way you will get longest burn time out of your candle.
It is always good to trim the wick before each burn giving the candle the right size wick on each burn. Keep the candle in a safe place when burning, on the table or on top of a drawer, but away from cold window sill. If you are burning more than one candle at a time, leave enough breathing space between them, so they will not over heat.
Always make sure the candle is away from children and pets to prevent any accidents. Do not leave the candle unattended or near any flammable materials or materials which can caught fire.
