Aromatherapy for skincare

There are many essential oils, which are great for skincare. Here are a few of my personal favourites

Carrot seed essential oil

Carrot seed essential oil is one of the best anti-ageing products around. The oil is extracted from the seeds of the wild carrot. It contains the carotene pigment and can be used in natural tanning products, the smell is herbal or earthy, but not too overwhelming and it's widely used in anti-ageing products. It's nourishing and tightening for the skin and gives it a nice glow. Essential oils are always best used blended in base oils as they can be too hard on the skin on their own. Try one or two drops on one teaspoon for the face.

Rose and neroli essential oils

Most flower oils are great for skin care. Not only the smell Devine, but they add valuable properties to skin care products. Couple of my favourites are rose and neroli. They are extracted from the blossoms and because of this can be quite pricy as you need a lot of flowers for a few drops of oil. The good news is that you don't need huge quantities, but a few drops goes a long way. These flower oils have been used thousands of years and have proved themselves beneficial in skin care products. The colours of the flower oils vary depending of the flowers, but they can also be clear. The smell is potent and delicious. These oils are suitable for any skin types, but always recommended to be blended in base oils.

Frankincense essential oil

Frankincense essential oil is one of my forever favourite essential oils. It has been used thousands of years and to me it has a spiritual quality to it. It's extracted from the hardened resin of the tree and it has a earthy, mysterious smell to it. Fantastic oil to use for mature skin to fight the signs of ageing as it is healing and toning for the skin. It is widely used in skin care and perfumery as well as in incense. It's best used blended in base oils in skin care or on its own in a room diffuser. It has a sedative quality so is very calming as a room fragrance.

Tea tree essential oil

This is a fantastic overall anti-everything oil. Use for spots neatly only on the affected area as it's very drying to the skin. Use for any viral or fungal infection, blended in a base oil or lotion or in a foot bath with a milk powder or base oil. You only need a few drops as it is very potent. Tea tree oil is extracted from twigs and leaves of a tea tree oil and has a medicinal fragrance to it. It is especially popular and widely used in Australia.
