Sensual aromatherapy


We are living in ever busier world and quite often get overwhelmed with all the daily tasks we need to do. We work long hours and there is always a pressure to go to events and have hobbies or meet friends. Quite often we forget our personal relationships and don’t take time to look after them and ourselves. 

In this blog post I want to encourage you to spend some precious time together and give you some ideas on how you can bring romance back in to your relationship. I will include some tips on how you can use aromatherapy to create some special moments.

It is important to set some time for you and your partner on regular basis. Find a moment in your working week, which you dedicate to each other.

Flower oils are said to be romantic and sensual, but there are a few others you can also try. Sandalwood and frankincense are great for grounding and calming. Some spices, like black pepper and cardamom can work really well especially in massage oils. Depending of your preference some herbal essential oils like lavender can also be suitable. I will include a few simple recipes.




Scent your linen

You can scent your linen by placing some lavender herb or rose petals in a muslin cloth and tie it with ribbon. Alternatively you can use an organza bag. You can add some essential oil on the herbs to make the scent stronger. Place them in your linen cupboard.

Recommended herbs: Lavender, rose 

Recommended essential oils: Lavender, lavandin, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang


Scent your underwear

Scent your underwear with some flowery fragrance. You can do so by using rose petals in an organza bag and placing them in your underwear drawer. You can sprinkle some rose or essential ylang ylang oils on the petals to make the scent stronger

Recommended herbs: Lavender, rose

Recommended essential oils: Lavender, lavandin, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang




Scent your room

Scent your room by using essential oil burner, reed diffuser or electric essential oil diffuser. You can also create a potpourri with some dry flower petals, herbs, nuts and fruits. Buying fresh flowers every once in a while will also bring a beautiful scent in the room as well as bring visual joy. 


Couples meditation practice

You cam connect with each other in a deeper level by meditating together. You can do so by sitting or lying down side by side. Listen to each others breath and gently hold hands. Another option is to sit facing each other and place a candle in between and gently gaze the flame of the candle. You can use some meditative music or guided meditation if you feel the silence too overwhelming. Remember spending time together in silence can be a very powerful experience. You can also use some essential oils in a burner or diffuser for soft grounding scent.

Recommended essential oils: Sandlawood, spikenard, frankincense


Romantic dinner

Spending some time together chatting about your life is fabulous. Put your phones away and switch off the tv and radio. If you’re up to it you can cook together or you can take turns and cook for each other. Take some care to make your table setting romantic, use candles, flowers and beautiful napkins to create a romantic atmosphere. Remind yourselves about why you are together and why you are the best of friends. This can be a great way to connect.

Couples bath

Taking a bath or shower together can be a wonderfully sensual experience. Make the setting romantic with flowers and candles and use a beautifully scented bath oils and products. Take your time to relax and connect with each other. 

Recommended essential oils: flower oils, resin oils, woody oils


Simple couples bath oil blends:

Option 1

  • 20ml base oil
  • 2 drops of rose absolute
  • 1 drop of cardamom
  • 1 drop of sandalwood

Option 2

  • 20ml base oil
  • 2 drops of jasmine
  • 4 drops of ylang ylang 

Couples massage

There’s nothing that will connect two people more than a massage. Just by massaging feet or hands can be a sensual experience. You don’t need to be professional, the most important thing is the magic of touch and spending time together looking after each other and pampering each other a little bit.

Recommended essential oils: spice oils, flower oils


Simple massage oil blends:

Option 1

  • 20ml base oil
  • 4 drops of neroli
  • 2 drops of frankincense

Option 2

  • 20ml base oil
  • 1 drop of patchouli
  • 3 drops of black pepper
  • 3 drops of ylang ylang
